A Fun-Filled Cambridge Family Day Out at the Polo!
A delightful surprise appearance from the Cambridges today!
Following Trooping The Colour yesterday, Kate, George and Charlotte cheered on Prince William as he participated in the Maserati Royal Charity Polo Trophy at the Beaufort Polo Club in Tetbury this afternoon.
Today marks Princess Charlotte's first appearance at the polo.
As expected, she made her debut in style.
Princess Anne's granddaughter Savannah Phillips stole the show at Trooping yesterday, she was on hand with her sister Isla for a fun afternoon with her cousins. In a number of the photos, Kate's chatting with their mother Autumn Phillips. Laura and James Meade were also there.
It's a treat to see the children playing together. This snap depicts a very sweet moment between Charlotte and Savannah.
The Beaufort Polo Club was formed during the winter of 1928-1929 and has become known as one of the friendliest clubs in England. It is home to the famous Tomlinson polo dynasty and plays host to the first Audi England International match of the summer. The Princes have played polo there for years.
The Gloucestershire Festival of Polo has long been a staple on the royal summer calendar. In fact, we last saw Kate at a polo match with George during the event in 2015. Since the early days of William and Kate's relationship, polo has always been a highlight, promising a fun selection of candid photographs of the royals. We've missed seeing the Duchess there in recent years, so it was terrific to see her return accompanied by two very cute royals :)
Three years later, George remains just as interested in his mallet :)
More on the Festival of Polo: "A mainstay of the British Polo and South Wests social calendar, thousands of visitors flock to the Gloucestershire Festival of Polo each June. The two-day spectacle, held at the Beaufort Polo Club, includes impressive top class polo, a tented shopping village plus arena attractions and a traditional funfair. Whether youre a fan of the sport or simply enjoy a great social day out, the Gloucestershire Festival of Polo is not to be missed."
The charity match raised funds and awareness for two charities, the Royal Marsden, which William supports as president, and his patronage Centrepoint.
The match, which saw the Maserati team take on the Dhamani 1969 side, is part of the Gloucestershire Festival of Polo, hosted by Beaufort Polo Club from 9th-10th June. The Palace added "This match is part of a series of charitable polo matches that the Duke and Prince Harry will play in this summer. Their Royal Highnesses have taken part in polo fixtures in support of their charities since 2007, and have continued each year since, raising over 11 million for charitable causes to date."
Judging by the photos, it looks like Kate joined in a chasing game.
George makes a run for it.
A very sweet shot.
It appeared to be an incredibly fun afternoon!
A wave goodbye from the Duchess.
Kate was stylish in the summery blue Striped Off-The-Shoulder dress by Zara (with thanks to Laura for the swift ID).
The $70 piece is described as "Dress with a plunging neckline and open shoulders. Vertical gathering in the front and back. Belt at the waist in the same material. A-line silhouette. Front button-up fastening."
It is thought Kate's shoes are the 125 Russell & Bromley Coco-Nut ankle strap espadrille wedges (with thanks to Sara and Ashley). Crafted from soft sand suede with an adjustable tan leather ankle strap."The woven fabric heel cup and rope wedge sole evoke visions of long summers in the Pyrenees."
Kate accessorised with her Victoria Beckham Quincy Leather Tote Bag.
A special word of thanks to James Whatling for his outstanding photos this weekend.
We conclude today's post by wishing Prince Philip a very happy 97th birthday!
